Halfling Religion

Halflings worship a grouping of what they call “small gods,” deities without much power to shape the cosmos but with enough power to look after their own. These gods are perceived as more prone to bestow blessings than the colder, more impersonal gods of other races, and are often household deities or other local powers. There are said to be a thousand and one of these “small gods” who watch after the halfling race, each one tied in some way to a “larger god” but not truly beholden to their patron. It’s unknown if even the halflings can name all of their thousand-and-one gods, but the Yala seem to be able to keep track of the dizzying numbers well enough — a halfling usually carries at least one or three icons of his or her personal patrons, and every halfling household has a private shrine where many more icons sit in state.
