The Red Tithe are an assassin order with a religious center. They are worshippers of Zamalla, goddess of murder, hatred and avarice. The Red Tithe allegedly spreads across several nations, and has taken root in Rasenna as well. They are noted for leaving a blood-smeared gold coin as a signature for any of their contracted kills.
Members of the Tithe are naturally implacable. The acceptance of money for murder is a sacred contract to them, though there are rumors that they can be called off with an even more lavish sum of money. That is, if the victim is able to start negotiations with the assassins before they slay him — if he even learns they’ve been set to kill him before it’s too late.
Tithe assassins sometimes travel in three-person cells: an apprentice, a journeyman and a master, so that the glory of the kill can be shared and the younger assassins can learn from the effort. They are natural rivals to the Black Veils, who compete for assassination contracts and are prone to under-charge if they feel a target’s elimination would benefit their misguided philosophical goals.
